9.23.11 Troy worked many, many hours on planning and installing low voltage wiring (computer networking, speakers, etc.). so I had to snap a pic of him next to one of his wiring charts.
9.26.11 Furnace in. And now that temps are in the 30's just a month later, I'm so very grateful that we have a warm house to work in.
9.27.11 Power almost hooked up to house (and it was up and running about 3 weeks later) making it possible to run that nice furnace.
9.27.11 The very long ditch (probably 150 feet we guess) to run that power to our home from the power box at the far end of our lot.
9.29.11 Hardwood flooring ordered. We went with the prefinished hardwood Golden Teak/Acacia (darker one on the left) from Lumber Liquidators. Had contemplated the Tobacco Road hardwood (the medium & light brown one below the cabinet door) originally. But when we decided to install some darker built in cabinets in our living room and chose the chocolate cherry cabinets to have something different from our white kitchen cabinets, we decided to adjust our flooring to coordinate better with those cabinets that will be near the hardwood flooring. And since ordering we've realized and heard from several people how much dust and dirt shows on their darker wood. Had seriously not really thought about that before ordering but that's life I suppose. It will look really pretty at least when it's been recently cleaned, lol!
10.1.11 Insulation going into walls
10.7.11 Not the best photo, but it was taken from inside the house looking out through the front door which was installed. It's currently still wrapped (as of 11.3.11) to protect it so I really hope it's the one we ordered and in good shape!
10.7.11 Siding continues to progress around the back of the house.
10.7.11 Time to commit to some of the tile. This isn't the best photo but you can get a feeling for the tile. The darker slate/tan/gray on the left is called Blue Lagoon - is for the master bathroom floor. The tan/bit of brown/hint of blue one on the right is called River Rock or River Bed. Something like that - and it's for the floor of the laundry room, half bath, kids' bath. Didn't go with tile on the sample board in the middle of the them at this point.
10.14.11 Drywall began around the 7th and after a week, the drywall workers had all of the boards up.
