kitty love

In November we got a call from a couple in our church ward asking if we'd be interested in a kitten or two. Our kids overheard me on the phone saying we'd like to look at them and the kids were begging from that second on to get a kitten. And I had a feeling that once we saw them, our entire family would be hooked.

We actually used to have two cats up until about 5 years ago. That's when one year old Emily and two and a half year old Anna kept getting into the cat food and cat litter and it became a little too much at that point in our lives to juggle babies and pets. So we found a family that adopted both of our cats so they could stay together. We have missed them a lot through the years and to be honest, I especially regretted giving them away because I missed them a lot more than I thought I would. And Christian missed them a lot and talked about them frequently. So we decided that when Emily was old enough to start school we would get cats again.

Now if you have read most of my blog over the last couple years (or if you know us in real life), you might think we don't like cats because  that we had an awful feral cat problem at the house we have just been living in. And because of that and all the cat urine we found on the house, the strollers, the bikes, etc., we pretty much swore off cats at that point. Fortunately, the cat problem was mostly resolved and the last few months we started thinking about having pets again once we got into the new house.

So back to that phone call. We heard about the kittens, we went to see them, we fell in love, and we committed that day to adopting both of the available ones.

I didn't think to take the good camera, so excuse my poor phone pic. Our entire family just fell in love with these two friendly kitties. They had another kitten there but the family had already decided to keep that one. Since we were still building our home and living in my in-law's home, our friends agreed to keep the cats for another month or two and take care of them until we were ready to bring them to our new house. We visited them each week for the next month.

A month later (6 days after we moved into our house) these two little cuties joined our family. They are a brother and sister the kids named Kipper and Willow.

They were abandoned by their mother right after birth and our friends found four little kittens in their garden probably the day after. They raised the three that survived and bottle fed them each day so they are very friendly and love to be around people.

Our kids think it's so fun when the cats jump up to cuddle up to them. We all adore them!
